ki saigon redesigns pizza boxes as symbols of peace with pop-up flowers in country flag colors

creative agency ki saigon has collaborated with beloved vietnamese restaurant chain ‘pizza 4ps’ to redesign pizza boxes as symbols of peace. known for their opinion that ‘if ingredients can be together on a pizza, so can we on the planet’, the chefs have come up with three different ‘peace pizzas’, inspired by countries of conflict. commissioned to bring this whole concept to life, the designers have re-engineered the pizza boxes, adding pop-up paper flowers to them, and turning them into colorful gardens of peace.

the three peace pizzas include by chefs mr. shotaro hirukawa & ms. natsumi kobayashi include: india & pakistan, china & usa, israel & palestine. the idea behind the recipes is to combine the flavors of countries in conflict and make them live in harmony on a pizza. inspired by the concept, ki saigon first created colors and shapes combining the colors of the flags of the mentioned countries. these colors were then transformed into 27 individual three-dimensional flower patterns that pop up once the pizza box opens. all flowers were handmade & custom built.

the pizza box was modified to keep the pop-up flower on top, where it can easily unfold and reveal itself. in this way, when customers open the box, they come across a small ‘poem’ for peace. the color and shape of each box, combined with the harmony of flavors of the pizza, generate a sense of peace and tranquility. ki saigon has worked with artist zac beuhner & a family of local vietnamese craftsmen and craftswomen to create 250 additional boxes, which were displayed at a one-week long celebration at the restaurants’ marque venue. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the ‘peace pizzas’ are to go to the UN peacebuilding fund.
