we recently got in touch with designer siwei liu and asked him to tell us about his project ‘tactility’.

‘tactility’ is a concept mobile phone especially designed for the blind. mobile phones have become an essential tool in our daily lives and more blind people are beginning to join the trend. it is often hard to find mobile phones on the market that actually suit blind people, as mobile phones used focus mainly on functions and its aesthetics, often making it difficult for the blind to operate such complicated phones.

as the name suggests, the keyboard of this mobile phone is designed based on braille for the blind. the phone features a single function which is the most commonly used. a circular ring is attached to the bottom of the phone, so a chain can be attached allowing the phone to be hung around the neck or easily carried in the owners hands.
