this year, IKEA is celebrating christmas the big way. not only have they released the vintersaga christmas collection featuring cookies, a saffron roll and a swedish festive drink among others, but they want you to build your own gingerbread höme, obviously in IKEA’s classic do-it-yourself assembly kits.
‘at IKEA, we believe every house deserves to feel like a home – even if it’s made of deliciously sweet gingerbread,’ comments IKEA on the official campaign page.

dubbed the IKEA gingerbread höme, this kit can be downloaded from IKEA canada’s page, where you will find an assembly card with instructions on how to create each piece which you will later have to assemble. the furniture pieces include the infamous BILLY bookcase, a LACK table, JOKKMOKK table and chairs, MALM bed frame, RENS rug and a STRANDMON armchair. the only difference is that instead of using an allen key, you will be using icing to stick the pieces together.

‘so do the holidays like a traditional swede—gather together, make your home cozy and spend time enjoying good things to eat,’ IKEA suggests. ‘whether you make all treats yourself or buy ready-made vintersaga products doesn’t really matter. the important part is being together. loved ones and good food. that’s the true taste of a traditional swedish christmas.’
