rafal czaniecki has styled a technical jacket and thermal innerwear to match his futuristic 4×4 bugatti concept, which we shared on designboom earlier this month (february, 2021). the shenzhen-based industrial designer has taken UNIQLO’s HEATTECH clothing line and reimagined it with 3D knitted fabrics and adventure-ready styling from his TERRACROSS concept brand.

the technical jacket features wind and waterproof fabrics that are flat-bonded together to eliminate any stitching. the chest is padded with recycled down for extra warmth and the elbows are reinforced with stiffer, more durable material.

the back of the jacket includes a vent opening that allows for better temperature control. the sides feature 4-way stretchable fabric for freer movement. czaniecki extends the cuffs and designs them with a semi-glove fit. spray-on coating forms a uniformed, sleek surface on a nanoscale level, meaning rain will just slide off the jacket and the cold will be effectively kept out.

the thermal innerwear set features 3D nano/lock knit technology. it affords a precise knit of 100% recycled yarns into a design that improves breathability and locks body-generated heat. pockets of air trapped in between the knitted layers insulate, while nano tunnels regulate the temperature.

the innerwear provides great movement capabilities thanks to 4-way stretch fabric inserts on the elbows and down the sides of the top part, as well as on the knees in the bottoms. the fabric is super soft and comforting thanks to the 3D structure of the knit that provides a lightweight ‘hugging’ feel as the weaving can stretch and compress.
