jonathan sabine: array

through array, sabine explored the process of sand casting. both the asymmetrical form of the candle holder and the mechanical relationship(close fit, arrayed from a central axis) between pieces when stacked are derived from the types of parts that are traditionally made using this process.

the dishes can be used as individual candle holders

array is a combination candle holder and dish designed by jonathan sabine. each of the dishes can be stacked into a customizable candelabra. through array, sabine explored the process of sand casting. both the asymmetrical form of the candle holder and the mechanical relationship (close fit, arrayed from a central axis) between pieces when stacked are derived from the types of parts that are traditionally made using this process. here, sabine has deliberately left the sand-textured surface and part lines to reveal the idiosyncrasies of the sand casting process. array is cast in aluminum and is available in a black or white powder coat finish.
