a vast selection of refined european artwork from the beginning  of the past century (expressionist, surrealist, pre-raphaelite and  symbolist) is placed in juxtaposition with images from disney’s  first full-length movies, starting with snow white. the display shows the visual and literary references, the cultured  inspiration that lead to the inventions and fantasy contained in  disney’s series of characters and settings.  the studios’ first brilliant cartoonists were young artists who had  graduated from northern european art academies, and they  influenced disney greatly in his aesthetic and cultural orientation. exhibition curated by the italian architect and designer alessandro mendini and his milanese studio galeries nationales du grand palais in paris  16th september 2006 -15th january 2007.
