‘[MAD] skyline games’ by PKMN arquitectures

skyline iconicity is most frequently used as an easily recognizable motif suitable to decorate t-shirts or souvenirs, a novelty to lure some unprepared tourists fed up with cibeles and statues. the city of madrid plays the game of urban identity definition through the image of very large buildings protruding above city horizon to be seen from far away. despite not being clearly recognizable from any outside location, the metropolis not only shows off its traditional skyline, but also has grown in recent years by the erection of for towers, a symbol of  ‘the city that could have been better (but it wasn’t)’.

‘[MAD] skyline games’ by PKMN arquitectures proposes turning representative buildings of the madrid outline into recreational participatory facilities to retrofit the downtown core. the prototype activates public property and the appropriation of the city’s identity by its citizens and visitors. kio towers is turned into a double and simultaneous ping-pong arena (kiopong), picasso tower as an active bench (picashelves),torrespaña building as a mini-golf course ‘pirugolf’ or the españa building as nine slides (spainslide).
