‘subduction desk’ by paul venaille
composed of two parts, the seduction desk by paul venaille uses fixed and mobile components with ample storage space. once opened, the furniture piece evokes the passage of tectonic plates moving against each another. with its surface made of a laminated veneer, the table symbolizes the rock strata present in the earth’s movement. the opening provides access to storage modules (twelve corresponding to the number of existing tectonic plates at the surface of the globe). red and orange in color, the compartments reflect on volcanic activity during the process. the appearance of the steel feet evokes an unstable and unbalanced side of tectonic plate movement.
