nebula 928: daniel arsham’s y2k-inspired porsche
Artist, architect, and ‘time traveling’ designer Daniel Arsham teams up once again with Porsche to create a fluid and funky ‘NEBULA 928’ concept — a playful statement of retro-futurism for the modern millennium. The team introduces the project as a reimagined 1978 928 that pays homage to the early 2000s, looking back twenty years to harness its Y2K aesthetics to step into the future of car design.
The NEBULA 928 is on show for the first time at Austin’s annual South x Southwest (SXSW) festival 2023 from March 10th — 14th — discover a piece of the future at the Porsche X space at 400 Congress Ave.

a vintage model with a futuristic spin
Daniel Arsham‘s NEBULA 928 celebrates the vintage identity of the original car while injecting the softened forms which define the modern Porsche. The work is finished with a metallic exterior paint in Y2K purple, and opens up to reveal matching complementary shades along its interiors. Inside can also be found an aluminum steering wheel and shift knob combined with custom ByBorre woven fabric and purple Ultrasuede® and leather. The front and rear bumpers were redesigned with the help of vehicle designer Khyzyl Saleem to give the car a unique new identity.
