presented at IDS during toronto design week 2013, canadian designer jessica nakanishi‘s ‘ladder light’ evolves from a previous series called ‘necklace lights’. by focusing on an alternative to the pendant, the attention is drawn back onto the perimeter of a room – adding depth to the interior space.
available in a number of different configurations, from the number of rows to the overall height, the ‘ladder lights’ can be used in combination with other forms to create a custom illuminated pattern across the wall. constructed using metal components, tubes are connected by a leather strap which is woven through the side wall of each tube – concealing the wire which runs between each stripof LED with a riveted loop at the top from which the fixture hangs.
