italian designer antonio aricò presents a poetic documentary that tells his fascinating story of art, craft, and collaboration. ‘le radici e le ali’ — meaning ‘roots and wings’ — focuses on the theme of identity that runs throughout many of his successful projects. the film was born out of a desire to capture and share the rich experience of collaboration between aricò and his grandfather. beginning with this personal story, the compelling documentary shifts from artisanal craft to contemporary industrial design. the documentary aims to describe the artistic figure of antonio through the narrative of fragmented histories. it pulls together contrasting voices, merging the past and the contemporary, the local and the global.
