construction on 432 park avenue reaches 1000 ft. in new york

nearing its projected completion date in 2015, construction on 432 park avenue has recently reached a height of 1,000 feet. the tower is set to be the tallest residential building in the world, topping out at 1,396 feet (425.5 meters). to acknowledge the moment, we bring you exclusive photos from richard berenholtz, who has been documenting the project’s progress since 2011. check out earlier images featured in an article on designboom here.

the design was developed by a team including rafael viñoly architects and wsp group for engineering. the structure combines a robust 30′ x 30′ concrete-walled core with a beam-and-column frame behind the façade, to produce stability for the slender form. the scheme results in entirely open floor plans for the apartment units, allowing residents maximized flexibility with spatial possibilities. see designboom’s initial coverage on 432 park avenue here.
