architect agustin lozada has completed ‘casas catalinas’, two housing units in rio ceballos, argentina. located in the mountains of cordoba and photographed by gonzalo viramonte, the housing units employ a simple yet efficient design. each house has an area of 110 square meters and is designed under a low-cost budget with funding from the government. the houses are inserted in a neighborhood of high density, requiring a thoughtful design in order to allow for privacy and comfort.

the homes are closed off from the public area and open onto a private lot. a variety of glazed surfaces, galleries and pergolas connect the interior of the homes to the outside. the structural integrity is revealed through the simple design: the foundation plates, partitions, and beams of reinforced concrete are made visible. high-quality materials were employed to ensure low-maintenance for the families.
