‘ordos 100’ is a construction project that has been curated by swiss architects herzog & de meuron and chinese contemporary artist ai weiwei.

the trio selected one hundred architects from 27 countries to participate in the collaboration, whereby each team was asked to design a 1000-square-meter villa to be built in a new community situated in inner mongolia. a documentary about the project has been directed by ai weiwei, outlining three site visits made by participating architects, during which time masterplans and designs of each villa were completed. today, ‘ordos 100’ still remains unrealized.
