the ‘apostoli loft’ is located on the top floor of building in rome, originally constructed by architect mattia de rossi in 1644. the structure was renovated in 1719 by alessandro specchi, and the design remains fairly consistent to those changes today. interior architect alessandro de sanctis was commissioned to update the space, and give it a contemporary look to fit the client’s modern day needs.

‘apostoli’ is openly organized with living, kitchen, and bathroom located on the first floor, and the bedroom on a private mezzanine above. reflective glass is used in several places as an attempt to provide a sense of expanse in the 57m2 (613ft2) flat. the living area is floored with matte roman travertine slabs, and the sofa and table are made of solid chestnut like the original ceiling beams. lighting is provided indirectly by several means, which give the ‘apostoli loft’ a suggestive atmosphere that is neither overtly hard nor soft.
