located in the central section of the al hajar mountains, and perched 2,000 metres above sea level, ‘alila jabal akhdar‘ overlooks a dramatic gorge, surrounded by spectacular views of the expansive omani landscape. ranging in size from 52 to 361 square meters, the LEED certified resort’s 78 suites are either located within the main hotel building or arranged in individual clusters. the villas are generously spaced out around the cliff-top, maximizing privacy and providing uninterrupted views over the mountains and down into the gorges.

influenced by ancient forts and traditional stone construction methods, the site features ‘aflaj’ water systems, which mirror oman’s typical system of irrigation channels. the external fabric of the building is wrapped in hand-built stone structures – an expression of minimalism infused with warmth and color that reflects the region’s vernacular influence.
