to enhance the everyday life of a five members family, ALTS design office has connected the spaces of the house to host a living room, office, and kitchen, while optimizing the storage systems, in one room. the wooden interior features timber boxes forming the windows and a staircase containing hidden shelves.

the japan-based architects were challenged to create an ample living room, which would provide a not cluttered storage of the kids’ possessions growing year by year. to prevent the loss of the area, they have created stairs with a built-in working desk and several closets.

a multifunctional space is thus created by using the storage system for different purposes. the room serves for multiple needs — from cooking to playing with kids — while being vast and free, and not overloaded with furniture.
