ALTS design office has completed the ‘kitaoji clinic’, a project which includes the restoration of a single level occupancy to function as a vibrant dental office. the architects’ aim was to improve the traditional medical checkup experience, by transforming the cold and uniform existing condition into a series of rich and dynamic spaces. this is created through a diverse material palette as well as careful attention to lighting.

the waiting area and passageway are bright and open toward the city’s context, producing a pleasant atmosphere upon arrival. the examination rooms are given identity through varying material finishes. this softens the nature of the dental assessment, which at its basis can be an uncomfortable event. the ‘kitaoji clinic’ displays ALTS design office’s attempt to establish a new standard for the medical clinic experience.
