the concept behind the ‘aluminum-ring house’ by atelier tekuto is to build structures made of aluminum that possess a sense of presence within the living space. the structure of the plan, using radiator and lighting, combines the functionality of an aluminum extrusion which has a characteristic ring shape, to encompass a room on all four sides. the house’s construction acts as a radiator: by passing pipes through the hollow portions of the extruded aluminum rings, hot and cold water can be circulated through the structure. the rings can also be used as pipes for water supply, drainage and electrical equipment systems.

aluminum is used for its high thermal conductivity, as well as offering better conditions for thermal radiation and reflection. using the aluminum structure as a thermal radiator produces heat by radiation, slowly increasing as well as maintaining overall stability in temperature of a room, bringing warmth. the way the house works involves sending heated water to a heating device under the floor via a heat pump. the heat is then generated from this device and transmitted to the aluminum rings which in turn emit warmth throughout the house.the second ‘aluminum-ring house’, whose framework was completed in october, is set to be finished this month.
