milan-based practice aMDL have recently completed the ‘tbilisi bridge’ connecting avlabari and rike over the kura river in the middle of the city, embodying the idea of peace as it connects two opposing areas with their own unique cultures. designed as a sinuously elegant canopy of concentric steel rings connected by lateral members. glass panels provide a protective skin across the walkway which is completely suspended from the overarching structure. it is also an ideal landmark for locals and tourists alike to meet and is set to become an important monument for the city.
