andBeyond invites travelers to sleep in its ngala treehouse, among south african wilderness

isolated in the heart of south africa, rising thirty-nine feet in the air is the ngala treehouse, the latest project by andBeyond. the completely private, four-level hotel accommodation — surrounded by nothing but the south african bush — opens in february 2020 as a new experience at the andBeyond ngala safari lodge and andBeyond ngala tented camp. the fully solar-powered timber treehouse is designed by fox browne creative in partnership with architect jack alexander, and offers a rooftop deck with an outdoor bed and lounge for ‘al fresco sundowners’ and dinner for two, an indoor bedroom, and a full bathroom with an outdoor shower — all with uninterrupted views of the bush below.

situated on the border of kruger national park, the andBeyond ngala treehouse is situated within the andBeyond ngala private game reserve. the design of the dwelling is the result of a partnership between fox browne and jack alexander. the reserve shares unfenced borders with south africa’s most famous wilderness area which allows a variety of wildlife species — including the ‘big five’ lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and cape buffalo — to wander freely. as a private reserve, andBeyond guests enjoy exclusive game drives and bush walks on 36,000 acres of wilderness land.

with the ngala treehouse, andBeyond grows a collection of twenty-nine lodges and camps across the globe. the team designs personalized high-end tours in thirteen countries in africa, five in asia and four in south america, offering discerning travelers a rare and exclusive experience of the natural world. when staying at south africa’s ngala treehouse, couples pack up just what they need for the night and are escorted on a game drive to the treehouse for a sleepover complete with a stocked bar and jars of midnight snacks. surrounded by a thorn boma fence and just a phone call away from the dedicated treehouse attendant, travelers can feel safe in this otherwise intimidating setting.
