the past two years have been an exciting and intense continuous flow of ideas and visions,’ explains cadioli. ‘the EU scholarship was a life changing opportunity: not only as it gave me direct access to conversations I was previously following from afar [streamed lecture series] but as it also exposed me to the incredible thinkers and educators that compose the SCI-Arc faculty.

SCI-Arc’s training approach, which is constantly focused on matching architecture and technology to promote experimentation and search for solutions, was a true opportunity to learn new skills,’ states superchi. ‘it allowed me to grow professionally and to, in the future, be able to interact as an architect with the complexity of the time that we live in.’ superchi’s thesis, atelier of the error, reflects the skills and understandings developed at SCI-Arc through a kindergarten of affinities re-configured through modular patterns.

cadioli’s thesis, an american power box, builds on this experience to investigate ontological weakness in the architectural expression of power. the concept deploys different postures relative to the ground depending on the relationship between the US and its embassy’s host country. ‘today, I continue my research on weak ontologies in the realm of aesthetic,’ concludes cadioli.
