new york city-based photographer andrew prokos releases his newly completed experimental photo series ‘inverted,’ which showcases the intricate design language of middle east metropolises. the work presents an exploration in architectural photography inspired by the fascinating modernist and futuristic architecture of such cities as dubai, abu dhabi, and sharjah. through the use of negative imagery, the series portrays a graphic reinterpretation of the city expressed with bold color fields, abstraction, and close-up views.

with his vibrant photo series ‘inverted,’ andrew prokos generates uncanny scenes which divorce the viewer from reality. the techniques of abstraction serve to reframe the architecture and place the viewer in an alternate space free from the confines of their own positive perception. large-format prints of these photos are intended to be displayed and viewed at a scale of up to 2.5 meters (over 8 feet) in size.
