anonymo-us proposes an answer to what is a beautiful house with 7-in-1 project

created to make designers think beyond the function of habitation and to consider beauty and aesthetics that enhance the experience of its users, the ‘design a beautiful house’ competition was an open call to all designers, artists, and students to propose an alluring new house and setting. rotterdam-based studio anonymo-us design started by defining home instead of house and this was their interpretation: ‘a home is where a member’s individual needs are respected as well as a place that stimulates family interactions; it’s also a setting where there’s room for certainty but also where you can leave a space for the uncertain.’

the house envisioned by the studio was designed as a sociological space model for a family of seven: ‘I really like balconies and elevated views’, ‘I would like a man-cave that doubles up as an office with views to the landscape — it should also have the capacity to hold a meeting’, ‘I want an intimate walled garden’, ‘I need a flexible space’, ‘I like big windows and high ceilings’, and ‘I like to have a place to play’ were only some of the requests the family had and in order to please them all, the design customized seven unique rooms for each family member according to their specific needs.

a shared space was inserted to each room to generate family activities, creating ‘in-between’ situations which become relatively isolated and at the same time, interactively associated. the landscape design also follows this idea of intermediates by establishing a dialogue with the existing golf course and the natural landscape. only harmonious relationships can create a beautiful home, and this is what anonymo-us is trying to prove with their design,
