the house by archimontage design fields sophisticated provides a spacious environment for a large family that plans to welcome new members, and wants to accommodate visiting relatives. the residence includes four bedrooms, three of which occupy the upper floor. on this floor, there is also a praying room which, according to buddhist tradition, must be placed at the centre, dividing the space into two sides, and above all other rooms where laypeople live. the fourth bedroom is placed on the ground floor, for the convenience and safety of the elderly mother.

the rest of the house consists of shared spaces: the dining room and pantry connect to each other via a staircase adjacent to the living room, that can receive guests in various occasions. the front part of the living room has no ceiling board, creating an open vertical area that integrates with the empty space between the master bedroom and the study on the upper floor. in this way, the different rooms are both intertwined and separated between the upper-floor bedrooms and the ground-floor living/guest room. the kitchen, washing area, laundry space and maid’s room are all set to be at the back of the residence, for the convenience of the service.

at the centre of the building, there is an open court which ensures sufficient ventilation and lighting. also, it allows visual interaction between rooms, encourages communication between the residents. the external features are constructed from contemporary methods and materials, using sliding panels of wooden battens as external curtain to control visibility.

half of the roof is lifted whereas some parts are higher than others for diversity, creating new proportions and unexpected views. the most public area of the house is defined by large, oak windows that frame the views towards the city’s main boulevard and flood the room with natural light. due to its distinct exterior, the house showcases a new self-defined personality amidst its surroundings.
