the ‘archipelago house’ by tham & videgard arkitekter is located in the dense cluster of islands near the swedish capital, stockholm. the home took its formal inspiration from is island location, mimicking the dark forest of trees with a long and low elevation. the home is a set of staggered volumes which features living spaces at the front and private bedrooms at the back. the front has been unified with a long angled patio which accentuates the staggered room arrangement. the volumes also protect the outdoor space from the winds. the front facade also features floor to ceiling glass windows that look out onto the baltic sea.
