focused on simplification, flexibility, and architectural quality at a cost price accessible to all, arnaud sarteur has chosen modular wood construction for his project. with most materials being recyclable and the modular system generates less waste than conventional methods, ‘station c.i.e.l.’ is a sustainable structure, causing minimal environmental impact. in addition, wood has interesting thermal, hygrometric and acoustic properties, optimized with bio-sourced thermo-acoustic insulation. ‘the idea is to respond to the needs for change in our way of living with real awareness peaceful ecological, adaptability to geographical flexibility, the place of man within the biosphere, a trend towards refinement, a lower investment’ the architect explains.

unlike a mobile home or a tiny house where all spaces are reduced, arnaud sarteur’s prototype preserves the comfort and quality of modern architecture. the design incorporates high ceilings and large openings, to emphasize the feeling of spaciousness. ‘station c.i.e.l.’ is overall characterized by a minimal aesthetic, while a futuristic look is added through the use of mirror-polished cladding. the coating reflects the surroundings, blending in perfectly with nature, like a chameleon, to minimize intrusion into the landscape.

‘station c.i.e.l.’ is a basic module measuring 2.98 x 6.00 m, allowing users to create infinitely connectable spaces, which can also be extended and linked to terraces or patios. when the station is completed according to the occupant’s needs, it can be effortlessly transported to the desired site, as its dimensions are designed to fit the size of the different vehicles. the structure does not require a foundation in the ground. it is based on studs or screw piles previously installed at the chosen height, so it can be elegantly placed suspended above nature, and also adapt easily to a variety of heights.
