with construction well underway for arup‘s ‘singapore national stadium’ on singapore’s waterfront, a 55,000 seat athletic facility serving as a centerpiece to the ‘singapore sports hub’. the protecting roof is a 310 meter dome, currently measuring to be the largest in the world. driven by the within the tropical climate, the canopy is retractable to provide shade from the sun or shelter from rain. a moveable lower tier allows optimized views of diverse sporting activities. a covered area outside the structure also covers spectators from the weather while waiting to enter an event of during gathering after a game concludes.
