infused into the dunes of the golden sandy shore in paphos, cyprus, antasia beach club by baranowitz + kronenberg is a celebration of the crystal clear waters and rich history of the cultural city. where goddess aphrodite was born, the renowned studio shares the interior visions of antasia set to complement the existing external design with the flower-like sheltering columns by cypriot firm psomas studio of architecture ps-a. completely embedded within the beach below, the architectural balance between man-made and nature is revealed.

renowned storytelling baranowitz + kronenberg architects continue to pay respect to contextual awareness and cultural heritage in each project, as proved in antasia. the amsterdam and tel-aviv based studio begins its collaboration with cypriot luxury hotel resort group thanos hotels to emerge a space utterly blended with the breath-taking views of the seafront. as the sunsets and sunrises bathe the extended curtain walls, guests and locals are lured to explore the hidden gem.

‘when designing antasia, we immediately knew where we wanted to take this. we chose two basic premises for this project: nature and the simple pleasures. nature’s beauty does not require any artificial additives, and simple pleasures are amplified by the sheer presence of the sea. we wanted to create a space infused in its surroundings, paying tribute to the sea and its deep cultural ties to this incredible coastal city,’ say alan and irene, co-founders of baranowitz + kronenberg.

under the terrace and across the seashore the beach bar reveals itself. through the glass windows framing the mediterranean sea, views to the interior become clear. a harmonious energy fills the space as the spatial and seating arrangement carefully amplifies the sea as if an amphitheater to a stage. the scenography flows further into the details. through reflective and opaque finishes, bleached scrap wood tables add a flair of simple tranquility embellishing the green and blue hues of the surroundings, whilst the white terrazzo floor echoes the sea foam hitting the shore. to add more play, shoals of white scales decorate the walls resonating the underwater life beneath.
