working within a limited budget of €76,000, pepe gascón arquitectura has completed ‘barbacoa house’, (‘barbeque house’), a single family dwelling in catalonia, spain. the rustic scheme fully embraces the region’s fondness for outdoor living, featuring a external barbecue area the same size as the home’s dining room.
the dwelling was completed with only a €76,000 budget

allowing a constant and natural flow across the property, a concrete slab runs continuously throughout the design, while sliding aluminum doors reinforce the close and direct relationship between interior and exterior spaces. internally, the design’s concrete structure is exposed with 15mm laminated plasterboards used to establish partitions. a compact and efficient use of floor space sees two bedrooms sandwich the home’s bathroom, while a kitchen is found opposite the entrance.
