developers westbank have revealed further renderings of the bjarke ingels designed vancouver house, where the danish architect will also complete the project’s interiors. envisioned as a ‘living sculpture’, the waterfront residential tower will mark the entry point into downtown vancouver from the bridge that connects granville island to the city.

each kitchen is oriented around a carved island unit

at ground floor level, the lobby is conceived as a contemporary art gallery where mailboxes are contained within a black metal sculpture. throughout the scheme, BIG’s interior design team – led by francesca portesine – utilizes range of materials and textures that connect the lobby with the conceptual themes of the entire building.

each property offers expansive views across the city

each kitchen is oriented around a carved island unit, supplemented with corian countertops and matte laquer cabinets. BIG worked closely with manufacturers kohler to create a bespoke set of bathroom fixtures, an extension of the firm’s kallista line of products. each unit is accompanied with a flexible 200 square foot storage facility that can be used as walk-in closet, storage facility or wine cellar. a rooftop terrace features a 25 meter heated pool, partially covered by an angled timber canopy that shelters residents from winds.

balconies surround the 50-storey structure

developers claim that the tower will be one of the most technologically advanced high-rise residential buildings in the world. to meet the criteria required for LEED platinum certification, the design features extensive heat recovery ventilation, highly efficient LED lighting and triple glazing throughout.
