nine kilometers outside the turkish city of kayseri, bahadir kul architects has designed an ice rink conceived as a social meeting hub, encouraging a more healthy and active lifestyle. supported by organically shaped columns that reference the fluid and fluctuating nature of ice, the building’s roof plane shelters a semi-external patio below.

 

façades feature amorphous apertures, containing colored glazing that adds a sense of vibrancy and dynamism to the scheme. internally, the 450 square meter skating surface is surrounded by two floors which sandwich an intermediate mezzanine level. a café enables the audience to monitor activity below, while a lounge accommodates public functions and hosts a range of social events.
