BLOS arquitectos constructs casa BSO, a brick refuge in argentina

designed by BLOS arquitectos, ‘casa BSO’ comprises a single volume oriented to maximize natural light and views of the adjacent landscape. located in the city of córdoba, argentina, the brick dwelling is surrounded by acacia trees that offer shade throughout the day. rather than disguise its presence, the scheme’s architecture takes on an robust yet expressive appearance that seeks to develop a ‘serenity’ with the site and its rural context.

with its shutters down, BLOS arquitectos’ design represents a self-enclosed object posing on the landscape. however, upon the opening of its operable and retractable steel doors, it becomes a permeable pavilion that shares a direct relationship with the outside. large windows to the north reinforce the dialogue with the natural landscape, while the large roof canopy creates a sheltered barbecue area. intended as a place of refuge, the structure forms a flexible container offering different possibilities of use.
