situated on a 25-acre plot in rural connecticut, the machine shed, designed by bosetti-desjardins, provides a flexible workshop–storage space for the client’s fabrication and farming equipment. acknowledging the agricultural context while respecting its industrial purpose, the shed asserts its presence through the blurring and reflection of its surroundings. the result is a minimal, yet contemporary small shelter amidst a vast field.

a stringent budget and tight project schedule dictated bosetti-desjardin’s use of readily-available materials, in turn refining the rhythm and foot print of the shed. in its totality, perforated aluminum panels, polished corrugated metal siding and polycarbonate clerestories soften an architecture resolute in form, repetition and material. the roof overhangs and rigid column grid allude to miesian architecture, simple yet modern.
