hotel jen tanglin singapore has officially reopened to guests, boasting new interiors courtesy of hong kong-based studio BTR workshop. the renovated building will now serve as a reference point for the chain’s nine other hotels, located across asia pacific. the $45 million SGD ($32 million USD) makeover encompasses a functional aesthetic with enlivened guest rooms, a renovated restaurant, and other features designed to convey a stronger sense of community.

none of the hotel’s 565 rooms are alike, with four locally curated wallpaper designs highlighting a singaporean theme — bicycles, orchids, goldfish, and shop houses. each room includes free wifi, USB charger outlets, high pressure walk-in showers, and king-sized ‘floating’ beds with 300-thread count linen. executive suites also incorporate a pull-out sofa bed, a small pantry, a microwave, and a smeg fridge. the 18 storey hotel also hosts a large club lounge located on the 17th floor with views across the surrounding residential neighborhood.

authentic south-east asian cuisine will be showcased in ‘J65’, a new restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere intended to match that of a local farmer’s market. the lobby also houses jen’s kitchen on-the-go — a café and snack bar offering singapore’s finest artisan products, including locally roasted coffee. in 2016, with the support of small and local business, hotel jen tanglin aims to establish itself as a creative event space for local brands to showcase their products, from food and beverages to fashion and art.
