moscow-based bureau cxema (skhēma) architects imagines its new project as a story that unfolds as one moves around the house — a story related to the changes of sunlight that are interplayed with color combinations inside the apartment. the interaction of color and light creates a palette of impressions that vary depending on the time of the day.

the apartment is meant to inspire its owner — a singer-songwriter —to create music while staying at home. to let him change the environment from time to time and fully enjoy every single corner of the place, using the playful combination of colors and sunlight, cxema has created a palette of impressions that vary depending on the time of the day.

to create a coherent storyline of the owner’s day, the architects have used bright colors:  the musician wakes up to a light-blue sky on the bedroom’s ceiling, which adjoins the lighter gray walls revealing the lively peach-colored windows. due to the lack of sunlight in the living room, the architects have used serene forest shades and created — as they call it — a ‘color pocket’, a zone, where both walls and ceiling are painted with the same color to separate the resting area from the passage. the traditional bathroom covered with white ceramic tiles with dark joins is enlivened by a delicate pink ceiling.
