cabini: Modular, compact, and easily transportable

Modular, compact, and easily transportable, Cabini is a prefabricated home designed to give dwellers an ‘elemental’ living experience. Created by Romanian manufacturer TF Lavanda, the passive cabin gives nature-lovers a chance to reconnect with the outdoors while remaining in the comfort of a modern space. From its steel structure to its wood and fibre cement board facade, Cabini is finished with high-quality modern materials, and integrated with solar panels and a waterproofed green roof. Within, the 36 square meter tiny home can house up to three people for an off-grid, nature-rooted living experience.

TF Lavanda composes Cabini of two stacked volumes, creating two terraces which each look out onto the encompassing natural environment in different directions. The upper panoramic terrace is plated with teak and made out of wood with a glass railing. Along the facades, expansive glazing fosters a relationship between indoors and outdoors, recreating proximity to nature within.

tf lavanda creates a modern, nature-infused living experience

Cabini’s construction technology follows ‘the path of nature’, embodying techniques that are not new, but have proven to be reliable over hundreds of years. Such values, combined with the project’s material standards and compact design, ensure that future maintenance will be inexpensive and simple. The team at TF Lavanda constructs the cabin on a metal frame with wood and fibre cement board, creating a ventilating facade that comes in different colors and materials. Inside, it is insulated with 15 cm rock wool and 5 cm PIR foam. Additionally, the windows are made out of Shcüco aluminum, with triple glazed glass and also with a store-type shading system. The waterproofed roof is fitted with a PVC membrane which can be made a green roof or extended with solar panels and photovoltaics.

Options for customization allow Cabini to come integrated with a built-in sound system, Textil wallpaper made of silk and cotton, an automatized shading system, an alarm system with motion sensors, a triple layered parquet, floor heating, or electric panels with wireless control. ‘We design and build passive houses with solar panels, green roofs and immense windows to recreate the proximity to nature. This reflects also in the interior design we aim for minimalism, comfort, and a clean natural style,’ notes the team.
