ARP arquitectos shapes 'casa BP' by the shifting sunlight in argentina

the luminous dwelling by arp arquitectos

Casa BP, a residence completed by the modern design team at ARP Arquitectos, stands to integrate contemporary living with lush nature. The dwelling is sited outside the city of Córdoba, Argentina, and covers just over 3,390 square feet across a single level. The team’s core design philosophy centers around the concept of materializing light and capturing its dynamic transformation over time. This guiding principle, anchored in a careful study of sunlight, played a pivotal role in shaping the built environment, programmatic layout, and material choices for the home — captured here by photographer Gonzalo Viramonte.

CASA BP: a home shaped by ever-changing light

With its Casa BP, the design team at ARP Arquitectos successfully merge interior spaces with the surrounding natural elements. Interiors open broadly out toward the sky, the sun, the air, and the lush greenery. This exchange between the built environment and nature emerges as the primary richness of the proposal, creating an immersive living experience that connects residents with their surroundings. ARP Arquitectos designs the home as a single volume, strategically divided into multiple sections to ensuring the infusion of natural light and breezes. This thoughtful approach created atmospheres within the home that evolve with the changing play of light across the day.

private and communal spaces crafted with natural materials

Recognizing the importance of privacy while embracing nature, ARP Arquitectos introduces a ‘welcome patio’ as a distinctive feature of its Casa BP. This outdoor space serves as a qualifier for social activities within the home, balancing private and shared areas. The kitchen stands as a threshold between these divided programs, creating a dynamic spatial flow. The home is crafted with exposed concrete, wood, and metal, all artfully combined to configure planes that define lofty spaces. While this palette contributes to the structural integrity of the residence, it also seeks to further infuse nature into the home.
