in nagoya, japan the ‘okazaki building’ stands as a bold, beacon of color. designed by ciel rouge creation, the renovation sees a residential complex bring life to the lacklustre suburb, breaking up the existing grey and brick buildings that are typical of the surrounding neighbourhoods. the transformation summons an individuality to the architecture. large balconies stretch along, and around the corner of the façade extending the exterior space outwards, with each individual dwelling within identified by a color that is mirrored and reflected on the exterior, creating a block effect that is not only aesthetically appealing, but also serves as a visual organization of the living areas inside.
