architectural photography studio hufton + crow has documented ‘køge nord station’, a traffic hub 35 kilometers (22 miles) southwest of copenhagen that was completed in 2019. designed by COBE, alongside dissing+weitling and consulting engineer COWI, the project is connected by a 225 meter-long (738 ft) pedestrian bridge that is characterized by its sculptural, undulating interiors. hufton + crow’s photography captures the structure’s aluminum-clad exterior as well as the interior, which is wrapped in warm and welcoming wooden slats.

‘together, we have designed a landmark for the development that the city of køge is currently undergoing,’ said dan stubbergaard, founder of COBE, when the project first opened. ‘a development driven by innovation, pioneering spirit, and a bold outlook that is embodied by the station bridge and the related facilities. the bridge is also a new architectural attraction for the area; a long, spectacular steel snake sinuously extending above the railway lines and offering the users a magnificent panoramic view of the cultural landscape.’

the station is built over two important railway lines as well as denmark’s busiest stretch of motorway, with nearly 100,000 cars passing each day. the new hub enables more efficient and sustainable transport to and from copenhagen, thereby helping to reduce car congestion throughout the metropolitan area. hufton + crow also recently photographed the copenhill energy plant designed by bjarke ingels group. see more projects by the photography studio on designboom here.
