in a suburban area of toyko, japanese practice comma design office has renovated a forty year old property to provide living accommodation for a family of two generations. ‘house in sakurashinmachi’ is arranged around a grey-brick wall, which stretches around an external terrace that serves as a buffer between the residence and the street. the partition continues inside the house, delineating the home’s living accommodation. the texture and color of the wall was chosen to mediate comfortably between indoor and outdoor space.
