mexican practice coutiño & ponce architects has recently completed ‘ponce house’, a single family residence located in la palma, tabasco, mexico. surrounded by over 7 acres of vegetated scenery, this dwelling is the first installment of a small scale masterplan which includes four additional homes, a pool, chapel, playground and ballroom. two perpendicular volumes intersect to form a cross configuration, separating private and public areas within the generated wings. a series of windowless facades border the private rooms while floor to ceiling glass facades encase the common areas.

a wraparound veranda integrates a linear garden planted with bamboo, while a void in the overhead canopy allows the shoots to continue growing vertically.
