photography by fran parente

completed for a middle-aged couple and their daughter, this two-storey dwelling in são paulo provides its inhabitants with a secluded retreat within the city’s dense urban fabric. designed by CR2 arquitetura, a series of voids filled with lush, contemplative gardens permeate the home, creating a visual connection between the ground and first floors.

the property is organized around a double-height living room that maximizes available sunlight through large sliding doors. a feature of the space is a sculptural concrete staircase that leads to the home’s upper storey. the ground floor program also includes a kitchen alongside an external terrace, while the home’s three bedrooms are found above — situated alongside a more intimate lounge area.
