in talad noi district of bangkok, at a corner where two meandering alleys meet, and next to a local chinese shrine, stands the new creative crews office. the project involves the adaptation of two adjoining townhouses into a new workplace for the team. the interiors take advantage of the industrial look of the raw concrete structure, adding glossy elements and green lively splashes to contrast the strict mood.

talad noi is a heritage district with intimate urban scale, where planning rules and regulations have hindered high-rise developments and densification. a recent renovation has been limited to change of use of the townhouses from traditional craft and trade to hostels and cafes.

the building in question is split into two halves, with formal functions on the south side, and circulation and supporting facilities on the naturally ventilated north side. the 1st and 2nd floors are retail spaces for rent. flexible meeting spaces on the 3rd floor are both rented out to the public and used by cc staff with an adjoining double volume, semi-outdoor courtyard used catering to public functions. the white cheesewood tree provides shade for those utilizing the grill for BBQ parties. having plants in the venue helps to increase and contribute to the overall limited greenery of the neighbourhood. the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors are offices, while the top floor houses dormitories for staff and has a terrace with a ping pong table and a bar.

to maximize circulation, the existing reinforced concrete staircase was removed, and a new steel dogleg was installed. traces on the walls are left unrendered to serve as reminders of the original staircase. crayon drawing of a sunny day at a faraway island from the previous occupant is preserved and now serves as part of the new interior of the fourth floor.
