gwenael nicolas of curiosity has recently completed the redesign of  louis vuitton’s ginza namiki dori store , located in tokyo’s high-end commercial district, where the world’s leading brand shops, traditional japanese-style boutiques, department stores and galleries meet. the exterior maintains its overall white, alabaster units originally designed by aoki jun. it extends the original concept of illuminated squares by creating a more dominate presence on the ground floor. here the the real estate is extended, opened up and framed to feature the luxury products in larger opulent window displays.

the entrance sets the stage for the retail experience where the visitor is is confronted with a set of antique louis vuitton trunks to provoke the brand’s strongconnection with travel and fashion. this is where the company’s watch and fine jewelry salon is located, dressed with highly reflective materials of bronzed glass and crystal. monogram motifs accentuate the quality of the product’s craftsmanship which are exhibited on custom display units. the interior design is paired with contemporary paintings to emphasize that this is where the worlds of art and luxury come together.

high jewelry pieces and rare leather goods are presented on the second floor where a new bridal space has been created. the exotic bags are displayed in front of urushi lacquered panels emphasizing the limited edition items.a sand wood alcove sits as a center piece to exhibit the most precious gems where visitors can sit and enjoy the ambiance of the room.the salon is wrapped with back-lite glass panels to provide a space filled with original art work and custom elements such as thekanazawa crafted table.
