photographed by cristóbal palma, the building is clad with dark timber boards that enclose a series of private spaces and direct views towards the crashing waves.
the main feature of the design is the huge kitchen, dining and living space that opens out to the pool and the horizon beyond.
the house consists of three separate brick volumes set above a continuous living space on the ground floor.
the renovation preserves the original masonry façade but carves out a new world inside, one which prioritizes light, space and openness.
for such an impression of iconic structure, you couldn’t ask too much…
This building is a great example of non-sense Architecture. It fails in every point:
-doesn’t cover from the rain (the roof is much too high to protect all the underspace)
-doesn’t cover from the wind (idem)
-doesn’t cover from the sun (idem)
-all usable surface has slope, so for selling things and standing all day long NOT CONFORTABLE (they complain about physical pain still afterworks)
So, who the design is targeting?
Its an example of a building designed just for banal aesthetics, where performance or usability has no role in the desing.
I think it would be great for rollers, bikers and skaters to record its ridings in the COOL barcelona
