david chipperfield architects have been appointed to design a new 4,000 m2 building for mexico city’s art exhibition space, fundación/colección jumex. the triangular site is one section of a larger plan for this area of mexico city. the four storey building will include terraces and small courtyards to allow daylight to stream into the museum space. la colección jumex is one of the most important private collections of contemporary art in latin america, comprised of more than 2000 pieces from both well-known and emerging artists. construction is scheduled to begin in march 2010, with completion in july 2011.
