dellekamp arquitectos: daegu gosan park library

mexico city-based dellekamp arquitectos created ‘daegu-gosan park library’ proposal for the urban center of daegu, south korea. a glass enclosure at ground level welcomes the park into the cultural hub, merging the library with community activities. the wooden plank facade harmonizes with the encompassing nature. the arrangement instills a collaborative learning environment with an ascending spiral circulation. lined with stacks, the promenade becomes a walk of shared and continuous knowledge. climbing four storeys, the pedestrian-scale path wraps an atrium capped with a large skylight. daylight floods the interior, illuminating the relaxed setting defined by self-initiated learning.

a series of platforms are universally accessed by all visitors. programmatic clusters are intended for work-study experiences. a culture and life-long learning area may be independently accessed for conferences, screenings, workshops and shopping beyond library hours. a rooftop garden for children allows free interaction without urban noises. the basement contains a preservation room and administrative offices are placed on the ground and third floors for efficiency.
