dellekamp arquitectos designs artist’s studio in the middle of a forest nearby the town of cruz blanca in cuajimalpa, mexico city. the structure features a floor and ceiling of triangular waffle slabs, a form the architects have explored in various previous projects. bouncing light around the double-height space, the ceiling grid creates a sense of openness and tranquility.

monumental yet respectful of its surroundings, the studio is comprised of a grid of columns and beams surrounding it as a skeleton while modulating the space. the architects worked closely with the client to evoke his desired sense of atmosphere in the interior, which includes a carving, carpentry, sculpting and painting workshop along with a kitchen, bathroom and storage. influenced by the area’s climate, the concrete block was painted black to better capture the sun’s rays and enjoy a better climate comfort.
