the dior flagship boutique in paris reopens to the public

two years after an extensive revamp and expansion, the house of dior is reopening its historic flagship store at 30 montaigne in paris — a both historical and iconic location. the project seeks to provide a stunning experience while broadening the brand’s range beyond fashion. ‘the iconic realm of dreams’ is now extended into the scope of culture, art, and hospitality, unfolding over 10,000 sqm. the architectural tour-de-force, directed by architect peter marino, who recently received THE DESIGN PRIZE (see more here and here), meets a junction of neo-classical style and contemporary chastity. the new aura of the building, which abounds in history (established by christian dior in 1946) invites visitors to a timeless experience through a delightful journey.

‘I am extremely pleased and proud to see this extraordinary dream, this outstanding project – which my team
and I have carried with all our passion – finally come true. more than a reopening, 30 montaigne is a total
reinvention and a living symbol of our dna: the birth of a realm like no other in the world, where dreams are
given free reign and a new, unprecedented page in the history of dior, fashion – and paris – can be written,’
notes pietro beccari, chairman and CEO of christian dior couture.

a harmonious balance of audacity, excellence, and virtuosity

the juxtaposition between legacy and modernity is described through the mixture of different materials and textures, from stone to luxury fabrics, varying in an off-white palette. the flagship store of dior (see more here) consists of a wide range of beauty products, including ready-to-wear, leather goods, jewelry, and fragrances. besides clothing, jewelry and accessories, the parisian dior building celebrates the multiplicity of savoir-faire, art de vivre, gastronomy, and culture. luxury enthusiasts and fans of dior can enjoy a meal, get dressed, rest, and work out in the ‘refuge of the marvelous,’ in the words of monsieur dior.

the rejuvenated, 10,000 sqm dior flagship now accommodates a dazzling boutique, a gallery space, the restaurant monsieur dior and pâtisserie dior (both eateries infused with the creativity of french chef jean imbert), three gardens, and a 200-meter guest suite.

‘through the exhibition of sometimes new – but always singular – works from the likes of guy limone, jennifer steinkamp, johan creten, paul cocksedge, isa genzken, azuma makoto and joël andrianomearisoa, each of these spaces will represent the inventiveness that has always permeated the house, but also the love of art that defined christian dior. a space imbued with the visionary spirit of monsieur dior, couturier and parfumeur, who, in just ten years – from 1947 to 1957 – redesigned femininity, building an empire of unwavering influence that is constantly in creative flux.’
